The learning community of Roan Creek Elementary School will work together to provide opportunities for all students to attain the necessary skills and behaviors to be successful and responsible learners before they leave our school.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Roan Creek Elementary Website. We first opened our doors on August 14, 2002 for students in Preschool through grade six. We have approximately 500 students and 35 teachers including a Reading Specialist and a Guidance Counselor. Our students take part in Music, Physical Education, Vocabulary, and Library classes. We are equipped with two 25 station computer labs, three portable laptop labs equipped with wireless Internet connections, three portable netbook labs, SMART Boards in every classroom, and a portable ipad lab.
Roan Creek Elementary is part of the Johnson County School System. We are located in the mountains of Upper East Tennessee.

Roan Creek Elementary has met all requirements for AYP.

School Improvement Goals

In consideration of future requirements set forth by the State of Tennessee, and analysis of TCAP and Report data, the following goal targets are identified for the 2012 – 2013 school year:

1. Increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced from 42% to 66% in Reading / Language Arts.

2. Increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced from 52% to 60% in Math.

3. Increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced in Science from 73% to 75%.

4. Continue to increase the percentage of students scoring at Proficient and / or Advanced in Social Studies from 92% to 93%.

5. Increase the percentage of students reaching the 6th grade Explore Composite Benchmark of 13 from 63% to 65%.

6. Continue to exceed the state’s requirement for 93% student attendance and meet Johnson County School System’s target goal of 95% attendance.
