Welcome!

        Welcome to the Roan Creek Elementary Website.  We first opened our doors on August 14, 2002 for students in Preschool through grade six.  We have approximately 500 students and 30 teachers including a Reading Specialist and a Guidance Counselor.  Our students take part in Music, Physical Education, Drama, and Library classes.  We are equipped with a 25 station computer lab with a stationary SMART Board, one 28 station and two 26 station portable laptop labs equipped with wireless Internet connections, several SMART Boards, a 36 station AlphaSmart 3000 keyboard cart, as well as a science lab and a computer applications lab.
          Roan Creek Elementary is part of the Johnson County School System. We are located in the mountains of Upper East Tennessee.

School Improvement Goals

RCE will:
1.  increase the percentage of students scoring at proficient and advanced performance levels in Reading/Language to meet or exceed 86% AYP (to address the NCLB 2007-2008 requirement) by April 2007.
2.  improve 5th grade writing scores to reach an average of 4.2 on the TCAP Writing Assessment by February 2007.
3.  increase the percentage of students scoring at proficient and advanced performance levels in math to meet or exceed 82.8% AYP (to address the NCLB 2007-2008 requirement) by April 2007.
