Aim
The aim of this webquest is for students to recognize people who contributed to reform in Tennessee and American society.
Rationale
A school improvement goal for Roan Creek Elementary is to bring up achievement scores for Social Studies on the TCAP achievement test. This webquest correlates with the fifth grade Tennessee Social Studies State Performance Indicator 5.6.1 that all fifth grade teachers must teach.
Learners
The learners for this webquest are fifth grade Social Studies students studying Tennessee and American History.
Prerequisites
In order for this webquest to run smoothly students must have had prior use with computers. They need to know how to use Microsoft Word and how to navigate the Internet.
Subject Matter
The subject matter of this webquest covers historical figures represented in American and Tennessee society after the Civil War.
Goal and Objectives
The learner will recognize these people who contributed to reform in Tennessee and American society.
Instructional Plan
This webquest is designed to be used in library class after the material has been introduce in Social Studies class with the Social Studies teacher. Students will already know who the people are and this project will be more of a review for them. It will take place over three class periods with time to share during the last class.
