To download means to transfer data (usually a file of some kind) from another computer onto your computer. Downloads can be found in many places on the Internet. You can download games, applications, software, and many other things. Some downloads are free. Others will cost you money. If a download costs money you will be asked to submit credit card information. Never download items onto school computers. Don't download at home unless you have your parents' permission. Be Careful! Not all downloads are harmless. Downloading items from the Internet can cause your computer to get a virus. (Click on the virus hyperlink to get more information.) Be sure you know where you are getting the item from and make sure your computer has virus protection software. To view certain files, play some games or video clips, or to listen to audio files you will need certain downloads on your computer. The following is a list of the more popular downloads and where to find them. If you don't have them on your home computer you may come back here and use these links to get them.
