Fourth Grade Library Lesson Plans

*** FELLOW LIBRARIANS: OVER THE YEARS I HAVE HAD MANY LIBRARIANS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY CONTACT ME ABOUT MY LIBRARY CURRICULUM. I AM HAPPY TO SHARE ANYTHING THAT I HAVE. IF YOU USE THIS SITE YOU WILL WANT TO COPY/PRINT WHAT YOU NEED. I AM CHANGING MY CURRICULUM TO ONE THAT IS PROJECT-BASED AND THESE PAGES WILL BE GONE IN A FEW WEEKS.

Fourth graders meet once every three days in 40 minute blocks.  The first semester is spent on different aspects of fiction books and their order on the shelves.  Fourth graders begin to learn the divisions of the Dewey Decimal System.  In the second semester students use research tools such as atlases, encyclopedias, and almanacs. They also study a unit on American Tall Tales as well as complete a keyboarding unit.
